Pick a theme. Focus. That’s the advice bloggers receive, and it’s good advice if you want to have monetary (i.e., make money) and blog (i.e., get lots of readers and links) success.

But I’m not that kind of writer, and if I try to make a blog for each interest, I’ll have to take care of a dozen, and there will be great gaps in posting. In fact, that’s one of the reasons there are such a large gaps in Yarnalong–it used to be two or three single-interest blogs. Heck, I couldn’t keep any of them up, because I couldn’t stay focused long enough. So Yarnalong is an attempt to gather it all together into something I might actually tend. To cater to any readers I might have who are here for a single interest, we’ll have very clear categories, so you can follow just one.

I’m an old journalist. I entered that field because it gave me an excuse to poke my nose into every phase of human existence. This blog just expands that. Expect libertarian issues, communication skills, language, writing, family issues, Buddhism, and whatever is involved in becoming human, as well as news about the family.

Note that Hannah’s issues and intensity of focus leads us to maintain completely separate blogs for and about her. They are linked from the Blogroll.

So let’s just say I blog about life, and let it go at that. If you want to read, I’m glad you’re here. If you need focus, then this may not be the blog for you.
